One of the most diverse and versatile engineering fields, Mechanical Engineering is the study of objects and systems in motion. As such, the field of Mechanical Engineering touches virtually every aspect of modern life.

The program is designed to create excellent technocrats, innovators and researchers who are introduced to core courses that include Engineering Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Mechanics of Solids, Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machinery, Basic Manufacturing Processes, Design of Machine Elements, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines, Modern Manufacturing Processes, and Heat Transfer etc. Mechanical Workshops are specially designed for courses intended to give students hands-on experience in manufacturing processes and principles of operation of machinery. Advanced courses and electives in higher semesters enable students to specialize in the respective fields.

Activities beyond the Curriculum

In order to make the students acquainted with the changing scenario of the industries, the department organizes various value added courses beyond their academic curriculum like CAD, Advanced CAD, CAM, CATIA, CREO etc. by in-house faculties as well as experts from outside.

Besides, the department conducts regular seminars and workshops by inviting experts from industry and academia to update the students with the latest technologies.

Regular visits to the different industries like; BHEL, HAL, NALCO, SAIL, OHPC, OCL INDIA LTD, VIZAG STEEL, INDIAN RAILWAY (CRW, Bhubaneswar) etc. is organized to allow the students comprehend the theory well by getting exposures to various industrial activities.
